As a former skeptic in 2008, Dr. Shawn Dixon had no plans to pursue veterinary acupuncture after receiving her DVM from Colorado State University. An internship in equine medicine and surgery challenged her skepticism, and she “got the point”! During her time as an equine veterinarian, Dr. Dixon witnessed hundreds of patients benefitting from acupuncture treatments, and actually ENJOYING it. Fully intrigued, Dr. Dixon earned her MAV certification in 2010. She launched Balanced Veterinary Care, a Front Range mobile veterinary acupuncture practice dedicated to enlightening the skeptics. Dr. Dixon loves using acupuncture each day to promote mobility, whole health, and healing in critters great and small, while educating rDVMs and clients. Dr. Dixon has also pursued training in Laser Therapy, Medical Massage, and Advanced Acupuncture Skills. When not loving on her patients, Dr. Dixon heads to the Foothills for hiking, camping, and running with her husband, two adventurous boys, one crazy-haired sheepdog mix, and two rescued kitties. Well, the kitties don’t do the mountains…yet!
