4.29.2020 Essential Oils: Promise or Poison?

In this webinar, Narda G. Robinson, DO, DVM, MS, FAAMA, introduces viewers to the pros and cons of essential oils. These pharmacologically active plant extracts appear throughout our daily lives. They exist in food, teas, cosmetics, many medicinal and dental products, and in room fresheners, cleaning products, and pesticides. You probably already know the names of several, such as camphor, peppermint, wintergreen, sandalwood, sage, lavender, clove, cinnamon, tea tree, eucalyptus, and bergamot. But, are they safe? Just because they come from plants and have, sometimes, millennia of use doesn’t mean that they should be used on you, your children, your patients (if you are a healthcare provider), or on/in/around non-human animals. Many can be poisonous if absorbed transcutaneously (through the skin) or ingested. Few have been sufficiently tested for quality, effectiveness, and safety. Start your science-based learning through CuraCore VET / CuraCore MED as Dr. Robinson introduces you to what is known and unknown about essential oils.
